Urgent Need – Alberta Flood

In light of the horrific situation in Calgary and surrounding areas at the moment, it is only appropriate that we focus on how we can help those affected.  Currently, the “water levels on the Bow, Elbow, Highwood, and Sheep rivers have reached crisis levels, forcing hundreds of thousands to seek refuge at churches, community shelters, or with family and friends.”

Samaritan’s Purse Canada (located in Calgary) has activated its Disaster Assistance Response Team in response to the flooding.  Please help them, help their city!  For more information, here is their news release: Samaritan’s Purse helping southern Alberta

Picture below is from High River, AB where our dear friends at AM 1140 (CHRB) are located.  As the Golden West head office reports today, “The Alberta staff are doing an amazing thing by putting work first.  Those who could make it to work, did, although not in High River of course.  CHRB, CKUV and CFXO are all being broadcast out of Okotoks – thanks to the wonder of technology.  They have creatively found a way to do this so we do not expect any interruption in radio service.  These are people who have lost their homes, cars, possessions….very admirable, resilient people!”
